PRODUCT INFORMATION

Like most of Bibi Graetz’s wines, the name is very evocative:
Casamatta Rosso reflects the freshness, transparency and strength of the
red fruits of Sangiovese. The “little Testamatta” is vinified entirely
in steel to preserve its playful and vibrant character.
Winemaker’s notes
Sangiovese 100% - 13.5 %vol
“This is the true rebirth of our Casamatta as a
“little Testamatta”. The image of the perfect elegance and
freshness of Sangiovese in which the grapes from our Poderi di Fiesole bind together and create
a pleasant wine, with fine and elegant tannins and an explosion of
red fruits on the palate.”
Bibi Graetz
The 2022 vintage
Compared to 2021, 2022 was a vintage that had lower
average temperatures, with much higher heat peaks especially in
summer. Thanks to our vineyards at high altitude and always exposed to the winds, there
were no phenomena of water or thermal stress on the plants, so much so that the
production was good both in terms of quality and quantity. The
maturity of the grapes was slower and very balanced, and all this
led to the creation of extremely elegant wines, with contained
acidity and a perfect balance. The harvest began on September 15th and ended in mid-October.
Vinification and aging
Casamatta Rosso comes from Sangiovese grapes selected from the Poderi di
Fiesole, the Vincigliata and Olmo vineyards. The fermentation is
conducted in steel tanks to maintain the style of the wine, and lasts no
more than a week, without maceration at the end of the process. A blend is then made between the different vineyards and an aging of 6 months in steel
tanks, before the final bottling.
