PRODUCT INFORMATION

The Brunello di Montalcino Giovanni Neri embodies the tradition, the production philosophy, the values of sustainability and the typicality of the territory, the experience and passion in the vineyard and in the cellar. Fifty years after the purchase of the first vineyard, Giacomo, Giovanni and Gianlorenzo dedicate to the founder of Casanova di Neri a wine that is a great expression of pure Sangiovese born mainly from a vineyard that boasts a splendid exposure, splendid vines with more than half a century old and an exceptional terrain. Giovanni Neri creates another great scenario that once again combines the importance of tradition with our continuous search for innovation.

notes by john blacks
First harvest of this Casanova di Neri vineyard: located in the south-east area, one of the most important and renowned in the Montalcino area. it was purchased in 2017 for its magnificent exposure and its very old vines, almost 50 years old. At sight it is bright and bright red. The nose is a symphony of young red fruits: blueberries, cherries and plums, after a while the blood orange appears in the glass. In the mouth the tannins are very fine, creamy and expansive. The acidity of the 2018 vintage is perfectly balanced with the generosity and structure of this wine. The finish is deep and persistent, a sign of a great future.

vintage notes
2018 was characterized by a very cold winter, in which the cold temperatures led to a delay in budding of about a week compared to the average of previous years. Spring was characterized by abundant rainfall. Flowering took place in the last week of May. The summer, initially cool, continued with higher temperatures in the months of June and July without ever reaching excessive peaks. The strong temperature variations between day and night in the days preceding the harvest favored a slow and constant ripening of the grapes.
