PRODUCTION AREA "Poggio all’Oro" vineyard particularly suited for its favorable microclimate, located in the hilly area of ??the southern slope of the Municipality of Montalcino. Altitude: 250 meters above sea level Position: hill TYPE OF SOIL Light olive brown color; fine silty frank texture; very calcareous and skeletal. GRAPES USED 100% Sangiovese, coming from internal selection. TRAINING SYSTEM: spurred cordon. PLANT DENSITY: 2,100 vines / ha YIELD PER HECTARE: 40 q.li/ha PRODUCTION TECHNIQUE Produced only in excellent vintages by meticulously selecting the grapes harvested. Maceration takes place at a controlled temperature in combined steel and wood vats Horizon and lasts for 12-14 days. Aged in barriques for 2 and a half years, before being released on the market the wine is aged in bottle for at least 12-18 months. ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS Color: intense ruby ??red, with garnet reflections that take over after a long aging. Bouquet: intense, enveloping, fruity and spicy with hints of tobacco and chocolate. Taste: full, austere, velvety and rightly tannic. THE OENOLOGIST'S COMMENT Jewel of the Banfi family, a Brunello Riserva produced exclusively in large vintages with selected grapes from the Poggio all'Oro vineyard, where Sangiovese finds its own ideal conditions to grow. Aged for five years, just under three of which in French oak barrique, stands out for its extraordinary elegance and for very long aging potential.
