Pliocene – give this Brunello infinite nuances. A versatility of notes that evolve over time and that do
make you continually want to discover, savor and remember."
Climate trend
The 2019 season was characterized by a cold and fairly dry winter, with bud break in the first
week of April as usual. The spring, which was rainy during the flowering period, slowed down the fruit setting
naturally lowering the production load of the plants. The May rains created an important water reserve.
The summer was dry, with little rain, but thanks to the water reserve created in the spring, there were no problems.
This situation allowed for regular veraison and excellent ripening, with ideal cool nights.
for the development of aromas and colour. The mid-September tramontana led to a lowering of temperatures
temperatures. The cool, breezy but sunny season was particularly favorable for the Sangiovese that could
complete its maturation by accumulating great aromatic and polyphenolic potential. The grapes arrived at
moment of the harvest, healthy, intact and with the right concentration, certainly a great vintage for Brunello di
Castel Giocondo.
Winemaking and maturation
An almost perfect climatic trend allowed us to harvest by hand without any difficulty once we arrived
in the cellar, they were subjected to a scrupulous selection on the sorting benches. The fermentations took place in
temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with frequent pumping over especially during the first phases. The wine was
then subjected to maturation in wood in large barrels, where it had the opportunity to mature and "elevate", finally
achieving definitive balance and harmony.
Tasting notes
At sight it has a beautiful bright ruby red. Castelgiocondo's Brunello di Montalcino in one vintage
particularly happy as the 2019 expresses an extraordinary elegance, in a particularly complex and intense wine
nose. The fruit dominates the first olfactory sensations, with very clear hints of blackberry, which are accompanied by different
other berries. The floral notes of viola and wild rose are omnipresent in Brunello di Castelgiocondo. Spicy, straight,
fresh, with hints of cocoa beans and undergrowth alongside nutmeg and other inevitable spicy sensations
very varied. On the palate the tannic texture is very dense and supported by a generous body, in a very balanced taste.
fulfilling. The finish is very long with a touch of liquorice root to underline the PAI.
