Grosjean's Pinot Noir is a refined, fresh and pleasantly fruity wine, which plays its best expressive cards by trying to bring to the fore and enhance the varietal aromas of a grape of exceptional quality. Pinot Noir seems to have already been cultivated in the Aosta Valley in ancient times, but in any case it found the pedoclimatic conditions in the Alpine area to express itself at interesting levels. Suitable soils, strong temperature variations and sunny, windy days lead to excellent grapes ripening, which give a balanced and harmonious wine, ideal to be enjoyed with white meats or noble poultry.
Grosjean's red Pinot Noir is produced with grapes that come from some parcels located in Quart and Saint Christophe, which are aged between 30 and 40 years. The vineyards are cultivated with a sunny exposure facing south and south-west, on steep slopes characterized by sandy soils rich in skeleton, shallow, which rest directly on the mother rock. The principles of organic farming are applied between the rows, with only the use of sulfur, copper and manure fertilization. The harvest takes place around mid-September and the grapes are quickly transferred to the cellar for vinification. Fermentation takes place with 70% destemmed grapes, 30% whole bunches and with maceration on the skins for about ten days at a temperature of 28/30 °C. The wine matures 50% in steel tanks and 50% in wood for a few months and finishes refinement in the bottle.
Grosjean's Pinot Noir wine is a medium-bodied red, which interprets the noble Burgundian grape in the sense of youthful fragrance and fruity freshness. It is a bottle that supports the grape's vocation to express itself with pleasant lightness, thanks to a delicate winemaking process that is very respectful of the raw material. At sight it has a light and bright ruby red color with light garnet reflections. The olfactory profile is elegant, with notes of redcurrant, raspberry, morello cherry, wild strawberries, wild mountain herbs and delicate spices. On the palate it is agile and smooth with delicate fruit, subtle tannins and a sip that accompanies towards a fresh and slightly savory finish.
