Classification:
Tuscany IGT
Grapes:
Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
Climate:
The climatic trend of 2015 was extremely
regular and has respected the behavior over the seasons
typical of the Chianti Classico area. The cold winter and
relatively dry preceded a spring
characterized by a humid climate in the months of March and
April and dry in those of May and June; in this
period temperatures were regular, ensuring the
perfect vegetative development and an excellent flowering phase
and fruit set of the grapes. The summer was hot, with a
peak in July, with excellent temperature excursions between
the day and night that guaranteed the growth of
bunches without particular stress conditions. The month of
August, also hot, was characterized by some
precipitation that favored the optimal start of the
maturation. The harvest took place between the second half
of September and the beginning of October, months marked by
a dry and breezy climate.

Vinification:
The 2015 harvest, regular in its course, will be remembered for the harvest of grapes completely
healthy and mature, thanks to very favorable climatic conditions throughout the season.
Nevertheless, the attention was very high, both in the vineyard during the harvest operations,
both in the cellar when the grapes arrive, where the selection and the first processing represented a
added value for quality optimization.
During the fermentation process in truncated cone tanks, the musts were macerated with
extreme attention to the freshness of the aromas, the extraction of color and the management of tannins
aimed at sweetness and elegance. The racking took place only after careful and daily
tastings. Once the skins were separated from the wine, the malolactic fermentation was started in
barriques, enhancing the finesse and complexity of the aromas. Thus began the process of
aging that lasted about 14-16 months, in part in French and Hungarian oak barrels
new and partly second passage. The different batches, vinified separately according to the variety,
they were raised in wood and then assembled a few months before bottling. The wine,
mainly produced with Sangiovese grapes and a small part of Cabernet Sauvignon e
Cabernet Franc, aged for a further 12 months in the bottle before being introduced to the market.
Historical data:
Tignanello is produced exclusively from the vineyard of the same name located at Tenuta Tignanello
on a land of 57 hectares facing south-west, of calcareous origin with tuffaceous elements, ad
a height between 350 and 400 meters above sea level. It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barrique, the
first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties, such as Cabernet, and among the first
red wines in Chianti not to use white grapes. Tignanello, originally "Chianti Classico Riserva
vigneto Tignanello "was vinified for the first time from a single vineyard with the 1970 vintage,
when it contained 20% Canaiolo and 5% Trebbiano and Malvasia, and was aged in small barrels
oak. With the 1971 vintage it became a table wine of Tuscany, it was called Tignanello and
with the 1975 vintage the white grapes were totally eliminated. Since 1982 the composition is
remained unchanged. Tignanello is produced only in the best years; was not produced in
1972, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1984, 1992 and 2002.
Tasting notes:
Tignanello 2015 has a very intense ruby ??red color. Notes of red fruit on the nose
well ripe, black currant and blackberry, are in harmony with the hints of chocolate and licorice. On the palate it is
rich, enveloping and vibrant, with silky and lively tannins that give the wine great complexity and
length on the finish.
