In ancient Greece the myth of Pitis was told, a nymph who had two suitors: Pan, the god of the woods and the god Boreas, or the North Wind. However, Pitis was in love with Pan and when she chose to bond with him the cold north wind blew so hard that it made her fall off a cliff. The goddess Earth then transformed her into a pine tree; the resin that is sometimes seen on the bark of pine trees, when the north wind blows, represents the tears of Pitis.
Pitis is a selection of Syrah coming from the Punta and Romano vineyards, where we planted Rhone clones. She maintains the characteristics of Syrah grown on poor and stony soils, red fruit and spices with graphite tones. It has a nice drink with a well-contrasted mineral mouthfeel that is never too soft, not at all cloying. Aged for a long time in the cellar, it releases both power and elegance.
