Vintage 2017
2017 was one of the driest years in recent decades. The first months of the year are
variable states, with some rain only in the last part of February and March. Then some
late frost, but from May onwards there was very little rainfall.
Only sporadic thunderstorms occurred in some areas of the Chianti area in
late spring period. Added to this lack of rainfall was consistency
of temperatures always above the seasonal average which in some periods,
especially in the months of July and August, they reached very high peaks.
Vinification / Refinement:
The harvest took place by hand in 10kg boxes and the bunches were selected
hand on sorting table.
The grapes of each variety were vinified separately and fermentation took place
in steel vats and concrete tanks. The refinement took place in oak tonneaux
Austrian and French oak barriques for a duration of approximately 18 months followed at least
as many months in the bottle before marketing.
