PRODUCT INFORMATION

L'Apparita, the first pure Merlot produced in Tuscany, has been a cult wine since the first vintage, 1985. Positioned at
top of the Bellavista Vineyard, there are the small parcels that make up the L'Apparita vineyard for a total of
3.84 hectares. Planted in 1975 with Canaiolo and Malvasia Bianca, they were regrafted between 1982 and 1985 with Merlot, with
clone 342. The open lyre training method and the particularly clay-rich soil make this small Cru
a jewel of world oenology.
CLIMATE
Slightly early vegetative awakening, flowering in early May and resulting in good fruit set. Sunny June
and July characterized by very high temperatures, were highlighted by the beautiful vegetation in color and appearance. At the end of
In July, a temporary drop in temperatures made the nights cool. The absence of rain continued until towards
mid-August, when a providential storm of several mm of rain stimulated all the varieties to veraison
ended August 20th. The health status and degree of maturation, both sugary and phenolic, for all varieties are extraordinary.
In summary, an excellent year. After numerous samplings and organoleptic analyzes in the vineyard and in the laboratory, the harvest is
carried out manually in 10/12 kg boxes on 14 September.
WINEMAKING
The vinification was induced by indigenous yeasts in steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 30/33°, with pumping over
manuals with a total stay (cuvaison) of 28 days. After racking, the wine passed into barriques for
carry out malolactic fermentation.
REFINEMENT
At the end of the malolactic fermentation the wine returned to fine-grained oak barriques, 50% new and the remaining
in second passage barriques.
This wine was bottled in July 2017.
Color: impenetrable, dense red.
Nose: nose of great elegance, in addition to fruity and spicy notes with a balsamic note that completes the profile
aromatic of this wine.
Taste: attack in the mouth with pleasant freshness, soft and elegant tannins definitely present, round, full,
harmonic. Very long and persistent finish
