R O SSO D I M O N T ALCIN O D O C A brilliant and expressive red wine produced in Montalcino from the youngest vineyards of the Company. The result is a classic Tuscan red that has all the grace and youthful strength of a Sangiovese di Montalcino. Rosso di Montalcino was recognized as a denomination of origin wine in 1983. Since Montalcino is a land particularly devoted to the production of excellent wines, for the first time in Italy the possibility of producing two denominations of origin from the same vineyards was granted . The Brunello destined for long aging and the Rosso di Montalcino with a fresher and more lively style. It can only be produced from Sangiovese grapes and can be placed on the market from the beginning of September of the year following that of the harvest. Like Brunello, Rosso di Montalcino is an excellent expression of the Montalcino tradition and terroir. TASTING NOTES REGION : Toscana C O L T I V A TION : Spurred cordon with planting density 240x75 cm VARIETY: 100% Sangiovese HARVEST: Manual, with hand selection of the grapes before and after destemming ELE V ATION : About 10 months in oak 92/100 James Suckling 92/100 Clear and translucent garnet red colour. The inviting nose is typical of Sangiovese: the penetrating aroma of morello cherries. With the refinement in the bottle, this fresh and pungent cherry scent becomes sweet and dried. In young wines the fruit note is pure and of variable intensity from one vintage to another. The body is nervous and dry: not a prettified, tamed Sangiovese, but a wine as tough as its land. It has a fine and lively freshness and a delicious tannic persistence, which is felt without weighing. A few years of aging will give a lot to this true charmer, which with rest in the bottle will be enriched with hints of leather, wild thyme and polished wood.
