The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is produced by the De' Ricci winery and takes its name from a historic Montepulciano family of medieval origins. The historic and charming winery is located in Palazzo Ricci in the center of Montepulciano and is today owned by the Trabalzini family. The wine comes from vineyards located on the hills (400-450 m above sea level) on the western and southern slopes of Montepulciano.
The wine is produced 100% from Sangiovese grapes (Prugnolo gentile, as it is called in the area), which are partially pressed, and then vinified in steel vats at a controlled temperature with a maceration on the skins that lasts a maximum of 22 days. The refinement of the wine takes place in tonneaux and large 20 hl barrels for approx. 15 months, and then continue for at least 9 months in the bottle.
Ruby red in colour, the nose reveals aromas of violet and cherry, with light spicy notes. The sip is structured, savory and with well-structured tannins.
Ideal in combination with rich land appetizers and stewed meats, both beef and wild boar.
