Different from the typical Morelino di Scansano, this wine is made up of a blend that includes the typical varieties of the Mediterranean area and demonstrates greater expressive capacity of the Maremma terroir. The name derives from a fruit that resembles a pear and which grows within the estate.
It is obtained from 85% Sangiovese grapes which in Maremma takes the name of Morellino, with the addition of the Syrah well known in France, the Spanish Alicante and other local varieties. Fermentation carried out solely with indigenous yeasts provides for a maceration period of 15-20 days. Part of the wine ages in French oak barrels for 6 months.
Wine with an intense ruby red color, it fascinates with its hints of ripe cherry and licorice. In the mouth it is a wine with a soft and fruity consistency, with light mineral sensations.
To be combined with pasta seasoned with tomato sauce, it is ideal to serve in the company of a good pizza or a roast turkey leg.
