PRODUCT INFORMATION

The wine
Born from the union of the best Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and a small share of Carménère with the unique terroir of the Poggio alle Nane vineyards, one of the most suitable areas of the company and capable of producing grapes of extraordinary quality. A wine with great aromatic complexity and an elegant dense tannic texture.

Poggio alle Nane
From a highly suitable area
Poggio alle Nane was born from an area highly suited to the production of quality wines, an area in which Cabernets as well as Carménère are able to express themselves at their best.

The name
Poggio alle Nane takes its name from the area in which the vineyards are located: an area where ducks locally called "dwarfs" were originally bred, extending from the hill to the lake which still exists today.

Le Mortelle Farm
Le Mortelle Farm
Fattoria Le Mortelle is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, a few kilometers from Castiglione della Pescaia, in an extraordinary and fascinating position both for the nature and the history of the places that surround it. The Antinori family has always been present in these lands.

In 1863, a patrimonial deed mentions Poggio Franco, one of the most suitable vineyards on the estate, among the possessions, together with other parcels of land. The family has worked on both the vineyards and the new cellar since 1999 with the belief that the area, still emerging in the Italian wine scene, is highly suited to the production of quality wines and that here the characteristics of the terroir and of the cultivated varieties.

The farm extends over 270 hectares of which 170 are planted with vineyards with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, as well as more recent plantings of white grape varieties such as Vermentino, Ansonica and Viognier, and a small share of Carménère. The soil, of medium texture, sandy and loamy, has a predominantly siliceous-clay composition and is, in certain areas, rich in stone.
