Wine shop 1976
40% Pinot Noir, 60% Chardonnay
grade 2007 – The nose, very refined, immediately gives the impression of density, with lots of dehydrated yellow fruit, notes of white chocolate, the typical mineral signature of the maison and a herbaceous base to support everything. Then, gradually, there are also the candies, the dried fruit, the roasting, the toastings, to certainly design a wine certainly of great complexity. Pulpy, fragrant, but also very fresh palate, with aromatic herbs and dehydrated yellow fruit to give fullness of taste and charm, all with a crazy persistence that seems to never want to give up, but more in the center of the mouth than in depth. Mineral returns on the finish and very fine but surprisingly lively bubbles for an exceptional champagne but from which perhaps you would like... something more.
Score: 95/100
Only 95/100 for a DP triosième plenitude? Well, given that my scores are always carefully calibrated and that 95/100 represents an exceptional evaluation (in the Grandi Champagne guide it is the first step of the Myth category), this label from the Comande Spéciale series is one of those that involves me the least. A great fan of DP Œnothèque like Cristiana Lauro considers it "one of the most incredible ever", but staying in the decade of the 70s in my opinion it is 'beaten' by far from the fantastic 1971, from the incredibly fresh and opulent 1970, from the monstrous 1973, the latter yes the best Dom Pérignon blanc ever, as they admit even within the walls of the Abbey. Then, for God's sake, maybe to have bottles like this 1976 – God forbid! – but I continue to approach this champagne as a critic and not as an enthusiast. Good Richard doesn't want me…
