PRODUCT INFORMATION

The Colonia vineyard takes its name from a heliotherapy colony, the vineyard is a project of the Poggiali family and was born from the hard work of replanting begun in 1966 by grandfather Domenico and his son Giuseppe until the 70s, a project abandoned in the mid 80s due to excessive difficulty in digging and resumed by grandson Giovanni in 1991. The three generations of Poggiali joined forces and finally managed to plant the vines in 1993. After planting the vineyard, the following year grandfather Domenico died, leaving a symbolic value for everyone and a handover between generations. The first harvest began in 1997, only in 2006 was the first vintage bottled, free from any classification by chance that made it even more unique, Chianti Classico already from the following vintage. The production is limited to 3000 bottles, numbered, reserved for true lovers of Sangiovese and with a special dedication from Giovanni to his grandfather Domenico. The vineyard has medium-textured reddish brown soils, rich in magnesium and iron on alberese and calcareous marl, unlike any other in Fèlsina.
