Brunello di Montalcino Fuligni is an expression of rare elegance and typicality created by one of the most celebrated wineries in the Montalcino area. The estate consists of 100 hectares of fully cultivated land, of which 14 are reserved for vines in the north-east area of Montalcino, mainly in the "I Cottimelli" area. Here, the Fuligni family of noble Venetian origins arrived in the early 1900s after a long period spent in the Tuscan Maremma. The winery, led for decades by Maria Flora Fuligni, adopts a traditional production approach, aimed at bringing out the most authentic character of the Montalcino area.
Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino derives from only Sangiovese Grosso grapes coming from various proprietary vineyards, planted on marl soils rich in stony skeleton, of Eocene origin. The strains also enjoy an altitude of between 380 and 450 meters above sea level. The manual harvest is accompanied by a strict selection of the bunches, which are then mashed into stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature, associated with a few weeks of contact between the must and the skins. Once the malolactic fermentation has also taken place, the wine is decanted into large 20 and 30 hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels, where it remains to age for at least 24 months before bottling.
In the glass, the Brunello di Montalcino from the Fuligni winery shows a ruby red color with evident garnet reflections. Articulated and intense olfactory range, defined by aromas of ripening cherries, undergrowth, aromatic herbs and fine spices combined with pleasant balsamic and mineral nuances. Elegant and complex on the palate, where the enveloping softness and the brilliant fresh-savory verve give life to a vigorous and persistent combination, enriched by the silky tannic texture.
