THE ARTIST'S HARVEST PROJECT CELEBRATES THE UNIQUE CHARACTER OF EACH NEW ORNELLAIA VINTAGE
Every year starting from the release of Ornellaia 2006, a contemporary artist signs a site-specific work of art for the estate and a series of limited edition labels, drawing inspiration from a word chosen by the Director that describes the character of the new vintage .
The Vendemmia d'Artista project involves the production of a limited edition of 111 large format bottles (100 Double Magnum, 10 Imperial and 1 Salmanazar) numbered and personally signed by the artist. Furthermore, since 2012, each Ornellaia case has included a bottle with a label created by the artist. Collectors from all over the world compete for these bottles, some of which are auctioned off during an annual fundraising event to support art.
Since 2019, the proceeds raised have been allocated to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation for the "Mind's Eye" program which helps blind or visually impaired people to experience art through the use of all their senses.
Donations from Ornellaia Vendemmia d'Artista have allowed the Mind's Eye program to expand through virtual programs. With digitalisation, Mind's Eye has reached a large audience from many countries around the world also thanks to the "Audio Verbal Descriptions", audio descriptions that recreate the visual experience of works of art, thus making the museum an innovative institution.
