Soil
The origin of the Bertinga soil dates back to the Eocene (50 thousand years ago). Sedimentary rocks,
mainly calcareous-clayey marls called Alberese. Medium depth soil.
The characteristics of the soil, the low PH and the northern exposure of the plot nr10, named
“Volta di Bertinga”, make it perfect for an early variety such as Merlot which excels here
combining incredible freshness and depth with power and longevity
Vintage 2016
The profile of the 2016 vintage was regular, without any health problems in the vineyard. The scarce ones
rainfall at the end of July at the time of veraison was compensated by
rains at the end of August and beginning of September.
The balance was also supported thanks to the constancy of the heat, without excessive peaks
of the last month, which helped the ripening of the grapes, without phenomena of over-ripening.
The summer was excellent overall, characterized by little rainfall and high temperatures
months of July and August, but above all by a marked nocturnal temperature range, such as to make
predict wines with high aromatic profiles and excellent acidity.
Vinification / Refinement:
The harvest took place by hand in 10kg boxes and the bunches were selected by hand
sorting table.
The fermentation took place in steel vats. The refinement took place in oak barriques
French, of which 30% are new, for a duration of approximately 18 months followed at least as many months later
bottle before marketing.
