The Poggio de' Colli red wine was born in the mid-1990s in the wake of the movement of the so-called "Super Tuscans". It is powerful and elegant, always fascinating year after year. It is a pure Cabernet franc from a single vineyard 250 meters above sea level. The vineyard has a soil made up of clay and galestro and is trained according to the Guyot system with a high planting density. Poggio de' Colli is an extraordinary wine in terms of class, complexity and depth, an innovative wine too, because in the 1990s there were very few pure Cabernet Francs.
The harvest is manual and the best, perfectly healthy grapes are selected. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in wooden vats with spontaneous yeasts. During the two-week maceration, manual punching down is carried out to favor the delicate extraction of the tannins from the grape skin. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation in French barriques and ages in barriques for a year.
