PRODUCT INFORMATION

Pomino Spumante Bianco DOC - Metodo Classico - Brut Millesimato
A selection of great elegance and personality, it shows a varied richness of aromas and aromatic notes. It is born from only
Chardonnay grapes in the vineyard of the same name at 700 meters above sea level, where the sky appears even brighter and the
border line with the conifer forest of the first slopes of the Apennines is more evident.
Climate trend
Winter 2014 was characterized by abundant rainfall and above-average temperatures; the mild spring saw
budding in the vineyards in the first ten days of April. Summer arrived early, bringing
temperatures above 30°C already in the first days of June, when the vines in full bloom spread a sweet
floral scent around. The rains of July increased the agronomic efforts in the field to maintain the health of the
bunches; the benevolent late summer sun gave the vines enough energy to complete the ripening of the grapes.
Vinification and maturation
The Chardonnay grapes were harvested by hand in 15 kg perforated crates. Once they arrived in the cellar, the
bunches were subjected to slow and delicate pressing. The 35 hl of cuvée thus obtained were fermented partly in
stainless steel containers and partly in French oak barriques. In the May following the harvest, the
tirage with refermentation in the bottle took place, followed by a period of aging on the lees for the next 8 years. At the end of the
aging on the lees, the remuage operation was carried out, with the aim of depositing the
sediment of noble lees in the neck of the bottle. The dégorgement took place in June 2023: since then Leonia Éternelle has rested for a long
aging in the bottle.
Tasting notes
Leonia Éternelle 2014 has a beautiful bright gold color, with a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is
intense with wonderful sensations that recall citrus notes, hints of peach, apricot and yellow apple, delicate
floral sensations and hazelnut and almond. With time, the typical notes of pastry and bread crust appear due to the
prolonged aging on the yeasts. On the palate the perlage is caressing and creates an elegant creamy sensation. Fresh and savory,
with a well-integrated yeast that testifies to a wonderful qualitative balance. Enveloping, broad, harmonious and
complex, Leonia Éternelle needs a long time to fully express itself. The long aging on the yeasts gives a
finish of great complexity that strikes for its elegance and richness.
