The winter and spring were mild and held back by the absence of rain, favoring a bud that was slightly late compared to usual, which occurred in the last week of April. The summer, generally dry and with daily temperatures above average, was marked by a hailstorm in June that hit some of the estate's vineyards, causing a decrease in production without affecting the future quality of the grapes. The sale for Achelo began on September 10th and concluded on the 13th of the same month. Winemaking After destemming-crushing, the must was transferred to stainless steel tanks. Fermentation, which took place at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, lasted about 10 days. The wine was then transferred for 70% in second and third passage French oak barriques and for the remaining part in steel, where the malolactic fermentation took place. Historical Data La Braccesca extends over a total surface area of ??508 hectares and is composed of two separate bodies: the historical core of the company is located in the Montepulciano area, with 103 hectares of vineyards; the other, with 237 hectares of vineyards, is located at the foot of the hills surrounding Cortona. Tasting Note It has a ruby ??red color with purple reflections. On the nose it expresses hints of dark berry fruit such as blackberries, plums and ripe cherries accompanied by pleasant spicy sensations of licorice and black pepper. On the palate it is pleasantly full, with silky tannins and a good freshness that accompanies a long finish, characterized by pleasant aromas of vanilla.
