The Campogiovanni vineyards are located on the southern side of Montalcino, an area where a
particular microclimate and the composition of the soil create an ideal combination for the perfect
ripening of the Sangiovese grosso. Campogiovanni is a traditional-style Brunello, which stands out for its finesse and
longevity. Award-winning, five times in the Wine Spectator TOP 100.
The 2020 vintage was protected by a mild winter, which
favored a very early budding. However, some
March nights recorded temperatures below zero,
causing a slowdown in the vegetative growth of the vine
and a consequent reduction in yield. Spring saw
an alternation of sunny and rainy days, while summer,
with temperatures not excessively high, allowed
a vegetative recovery, bringing the grapes to full ripeness.
Thanks also to the reduction in yields, the quality level of the
grapes was excellent, both from a health point of view and in
terms of tannin maturation.
Tasting Notes and Pairings
Intense ruby ??red color. Aromas of ripe berries,
blackberry jam and notes of tobacco and leather. On the palate it is
broad, soft, persistent, closing with notes of fruit
in alcohol. Red meats in general, game, wild boar-based dishes, mature pecorino cheeses.
