PRODUCT INFORMATION

Tasting exam: The Vintage Tunina has a brilliant straw yellow color with golden reflections. The bouquet is intense, ample, of great elegance and persistence, with hints of honey and wild flowers. It has a dry, soft, very harmonious flavour, with exceptional persistence, due to the particularly full body. It goes well with first courses with truffles, with a great variety of fish dishes, especially baked and with sauces, but it can also be paired with white meats. The memory of one of his encounters with a pillow of fresh salmon stuffed with parmesan and artichokes is splendid. (Daniele Cernilli)

Notes: The first tests date back to the 1973 harvest and the first vintage put on sale with this name and this label was the 1975 harvest. Historically, Vintage Tunina starts as a blend of the best grapes that are harvested late, depending on the vintage, about two weeks later the normal harvest on an area of about 16 hectares of vineyards cultivated on the Ronco del Fortino. The name Tunina refers to the old owner of the land on which the original vineyard is located and is dedicated to Casanova's poorest lover, who was a housekeeper in Venice who was also called Tunina (Antonia).

With the 2015 harvest, Vintage Tunina celebrates its first 40 years.

Already in 1979 considered by Luigi Veronelli "The Mennea of Italian wines", then wine of the year 1997 for Gambero Rosso and Oscar del vino vintage 1998 for the Italian Sommelier Association.

In 2003 Silvio during a visit to the Monreale Abbey in Palermo, inspired by the internal decorations of Arab-Norman architecture, enriched the label with a Greek that develops around the hexagon.

In conclusion, we quote an article by Cesare Pillon that appeared in Civiltà del bere in October 2000 “….but Vintage Tunina is exceptional in many other ways. Until now no one had ever realized it, yet it is the most extraordinary meditation wine that exists. And it is not in a passive sense (a wine to drink while meditating), but in an active sense: it is a wine that makes you meditate….”.
