Castello di Ama has been producing Rosé wine since 1982 and Purple Rose was born in 2017 with a new methodology vinifying part of the must in barriques. It is obtained from the best Sangiovese tanks by means of a bloodletting (saignee) carried out after about 12 hours of contact with the skins. A marvel that celebrates the uniqueness of the Castello di Ama vineyards. CLIMATE The cold and strong excursions characterized the first part of the year, after a snowfall in January it was followed by an unusually mild month of February. Spring was cool and rainy, this affected the early varieties during flowering, leading to a reduction in the load of grapes per vine. Towards the middle of June, summer broke out which was hot and dry. The harvest began on September 5 and ended on October 10. VINIFICATION The fermentation in second passage oak, of a part of the must about 30% of the total, has the effect of giving the wine greater longevity and better color stability and of complexifying its aroma, embellishing the pleasant bouquet of red fruits with deeper scents.
