Rosé I.G.T. Salento
Vintage
2023
Climate
The 2023 vintage in Puglia can be defined as a "two-sided" vintage:
generally mild and rainy during winter and spring, dry and
generally hot during the summer.
The vegetal-productive balance of the Tormaresca vineyards was
fundamental to guarantee the optimal ripening of the grapes, thanks also
to careful tillage of the land which allowed it to be preserved
water availability accumulated during the winter-spring phase.
The harvest took place approximately 10 days late. The grapes for
Calafuria were collected between August 28th and September 22nd, in a span
longer than usual due to the scalar maturation of the
vineyards.
Vinification and refinement
The grapes, immediately after harvesting, were destemmed and pressed
fluffy. The must obtained was transferred to stainless steel tanks
temperature of 12 °C in order to obtain natural clarification; here
alcoholic fermentation took place, conducted at a temperature of
16 °C, to preserve and enhance the aromatic component. Calafuria has
refined for a short period in steel in contact with its own yeasts first
of bottling and subsequent release onto the market.

Historical data
Masseria Maìme is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Alto Salento, not far from the town of San Pietro
Vernotico – Brindisi. The estate develops along the coast, creating a unique landscape of growing vineyards
between woods and pine forests and disappear before the eye until they merge with the sea. The varieties mostly
present are: Negroamaro, Primitivo, Syrah, Cabernet and Chardonnay. Calafuria comes from the vineyards that are
extend along the Adriatic coast. It owes its name to one of the over 700 bays in Puglia. There
The region boasts a long tradition in the production of rosé wines obtained from Negroamaro, a grape variety
it best expresses its potential near the sea. A delicate, pleasantly fruity rosé,
savory and broad, capable of conveying the aromas and colors of the production area, Salento.
Tasting notes
Calafuria 2023 has a delicate peach blossom pink color. On the nose it stands out for its fruity and citrus notes
of pink grapefruit and white peach combined with pleasant sensations of sea breeze and delicate hints of
jasmine and iris. On the palate it is pleasantly fresh, characterized by an excellent aromatic persistence and by
a delicate flavor.
