The Valpolicella Ripasso “La Groletta” by Corte Giara is a red in which the fruit, pulpy and well ripe, combines on the nose with sweet spices and delicate nuances of medicinal herbs. It comes from a territorial blend, in which Corvina and Rondinella are bred by Allegrini within the possessions of the Corte Giara estate to give rise to a high-value wine, also suitable for daily consumption thanks to the very interesting price at which it is proposed. Elegant and eclectic, it has a modern appeal, which makes it a wild card in the kitchen.
Corte Giara “La Groletta” is a Valpolicella Ripasso that comes from a characteristic blend of the Veneto terroir, Corvina, present in the final blend at 70%, and Rondinella. The vines of these two native varieties grow on the Corte Giara estate with the pergola system, within a vineyard exposed towards the south-east and characterized by the presence of limestone in the subsoil. The bunches are harvested manually during the first week of October, and once they arrive in the rooms used for winemaking they are destemmed. The grapes are softly pressed, and the resulting must undergoes a first fermentation in steel; the refermentation takes place on the dried Amarone skins, therefore following the typical production criteria of Ripasso. Finally, refinement follows, in which the wine remains to rest for 11 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
This Valpolicella Ripasso “La Groletta” Corte Giara announces itself in the glass with a deep and concentrated ruby red color. The range of aromas that envelop the nose is captivating, resonating with initially fruity notes, then moving towards a combination of spicy sensations and touches of medicinal herbs. On the palate it is of medium structure, soft, with a round sip that is satisfying to drink thanks also to a nice acidic streak. A red that bears the signature of Allegrini, a great name in Italian wine that confirms itself with a product with high quality standards.
