Alteni Of Brassica
The Alteni Di Brassica, a white wine of great value, comes from the Gaja winery. The owned vines extend south of the Tanaro river, in the municipality of Barbaresco, in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of the Piedmontese Langhe. A unique place, where the vines cover the hills made of white marl and blue tuff and blend with hazelnut groves, woods and fields cultivated with grains. In this area there are the ideal conditions for the luxuriant growth of the vine, a microclimate that gives full-bodied and important wines, a subsoil rich in organic substances and well drained. The choice to produce wine from vineyards with different positions is strategic, the goal is to create a wine identifiable for its particular structure. The harvest is done strictly by hand in mid-October, the maturation takes place, according to the disciplinary, for 26 months, 12 of which in oak or chestnut barrels. The blend used for the production of this wine appreciated throughout the world over the centuries is a curvée made with the typical vines of these lands: Riesling, Vierner, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Traminer. To allow easy cultivation on the hills, sometimes inaccessible, espalier training is practiced, with Guyot pruning, only the best bunches will reach maturity. Langhe DOC, is the acronym on the label which indicates the place of origin as to be regulated. Alteni Di Brassica is a wine with a straw yellow colour, very clear, embellished with soft greenish reflections tending towards gold. The nose is elegant, structured, balanced, with hints of small white flowers and jasmine. On the palate you can taste its minerality, great flavor and acidity that enhance the olfactory sensations, in a delicately persistent finish. It is dry, full and ripe at the same time, with nuances of fruit, such as yellow apples, pears, peaches and pineapples. The finish offers great purity, a beautiful aromatic persistence and a subtle note of vanilla. It is the ideal match for delicate fish-based first courses such as risotto with seafood, spaghetti allo scoglio, carpaccio and tuna tartare, roast swordfish and sea bream baked in foil or in salt. The ideal serving temperature to enhance the bouquet of aromas and scents typical of this wine is between 12-14 °C.
