Name Franciacorta Reserve. Grape varieties The vines of the white grape variety planted at that time in Franciacorta were supplied by nurserymen with the generic name of "Pinot" and this name was also reported on bottle labels such as “Franciacorta Pinot”. Later, at the end of the 80s, it was discovered that the vineyards planted with the "Pinot" variety ampelographically they were actually composed, randomly, of around 35% Pinot White and 65% Chardonnay. We can therefore define that the blend of the “Cuvée Annamaria Clementi R.S. 1980” then created with 40% Pinot Noir base wines and 60% white grape base wines “Pinot” was in fact composed of 40% Pinot Noir, 21% Pinot Blanc and 39% Chardonnay. Origin vineyards A selection of grapes from the 7 vineyards in the “Canelle” area, located in the surrounding area of the “Ca' del Bosco” winery. 1980 harvest Cool early spring, little rain and budding of the vines with a decidedly good climate dry. From May onwards, however, the weather conditions completely changed with rain protagonist until the first ten days of July. It rained more than 200 mm in May and June. The vines were strongly affected by this climate with consequent losses of the load of bunches. The coolness and rain during flowering actually caused the loss of part of the "floral buttons" and induced limited fruit setting, with millerandage of the bunches. From the second week of July the real summer showed itself with temperatures around to 30° C and the rain never came again until September. Final climate that favored e The quality of the grapes of this vintage is marked as excellent. The harvest began in the first week of September with the “Pinot” grapes perfectly healthy and ripe. For this Reserve the grapes were harvested on 11 and 12 September.
