Classification DOCG riserva Vintage 2022 Climate The 2022 vintage in Chianti Classico was characterized by lower-than-average rainfall until the month of August and by a spring and a generally warm summer, with the months of June and July marked by temperatures above the historical data for the area; in these climatic conditions, the plants were able to self-regulate, ensuring uniform sprouting and flowering and facing the hottest months at their best: at the beginning of veraison, they were in an ideal vegetative-productive state. The rains and the consequent drop in temperatures in mid-August favored significant temperature excursions between day and night, allowing the ripening to start as best as possible. The excellent climatic conditions of the autumn months guaranteed a high-quality harvest, with harvesting operations starting in mid-September for the Sangiovese and in the first days of October for the Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaking Upon arrival at the cellar, the bunches were destemmed and then softly pressed; the must was transferred into stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation took place, lasting about a week. The maceration, which lasted for about 10 days, was managed with very delicate pumping over and délestage in order to guarantee an intense extraction but at the same time capable of preserving the elegance and sweetness of the tannins. At the end of the malolactic fermentation, which occurred spontaneously by the end of the year, the assembled wine continued the period of aging in French and Hungarian oak barriques for about a year. Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva was then bottled and refined in the bottle for a further 12 months. Historical Data Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the soft hills enclosed between the Greve and Pesa valleys and extends for 319 hectares, of which approximately 130 are vineyards. The vineyards of Tenuta Tignanello are composed mainly of the native Sangiovese and non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Marchese Antinori is a historic wine from the Antinori house which, since the 2011 vintage, has been produced with grapes from Tenuta Tignanello. A wine that presents itself as a full expression of the quality and elegance of the Sangiovese of these areas. Tasting Notes With an intense ruby ??red color, Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2022 strikes the nose with intense notes of black cherry that, together with delicate floral sensations of violet and rose petals, alternate with hints of vanilla and cocoa powder. On the palate, the enveloping and lively entry unfolds in a balanced way, with sweet and vibrant tannins that accompany and support a savory, long and persistent finish.
