Pieve Gran Selezione expresses the essence of San Felice’s Chianti Classico. The Sangiovese, harvested in the best company vineyards and vinified with care, produces a wine that represents the maximum expression of the territory, faithful to the production philosophy of San Felice, which has always sought a "reading" of the territory through native vines. Characteristics Vintage The 2021 vintage was characterized by a regular seasonal trend. The spring rains favored the vegetative development and created water reserves to face the dry summer. After Easter, a brief drop in temperatures slowed the growth of the shoots in the coldest areas of Chianti Classico. There was no pressure from fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and downy mildew. The summer, although dry, was mitigated by the spring water reserves and did not present excessive heat waves. Since the end of August, high daytime temperatures have been balanced by cool nights, favoring optimal ripening of the grapes. The Sangiovese harvest began around September 20, in line with previous years. Tasting Notes and Pairings Intense ruby ??red, with broad and persistent aromas. Hints of violet and blackcurrant combine with a sweet spice of tobacco and licorice. Full-bodied, soft, well-structured wine, defined by ripe and juicy tannins that match in a balanced way with the acid component. Ideal with game, roasts, grills and cheeses.
