The Tuscan wine Bolgheri Vermetino offers itself with a typically Mediterranean soul, a true calling card of this Grattamacco product. The scents of aromatic herbs, citrus fruits and sea salt tell us about a vine, Vermentino, which loves to grow near the sea, in order to benefit from the climatic influences and the breezes that blow on the coast. A label in which structure rhymes with finesse, the result of the excellent relationship between grape variety and territory.
This Bolgheri Vermentino comes from the grapes of the same name, used in purity by the Grattamacco winery team. The vines of this variety grow with certified organic farming practices, with the Guyot and spurred cordon system, in a plot slightly larger than one hectare, where the terroir is mainly composed of clay, marl and limestone. After the rigorously manual harvest, the grapes are destemmed and pressed, and the must obtained is fermented alcoholicly half in steel and half in first, second and third passage barriques. The refinement, which lasts for 8 months, takes place both in steel containers and in barriques.
The Grattamacco Bolgheri Vermentino announces itself in the glass with a very bright straw yellow color. The olfactory profile develops on a rich and intense progression of aromas, in which notes of aromatic herbs mix with citrus sensations and more iodine touches. When tasted, it is medium-bodied, with a structure that benefits from the aging period spent in wood, ideal for enhancing its personality; the sip is large and enveloping on the palate, with a fresh and savory vein that fuels the drink. Grattamacco, a winery belonging to the ColleMassari Wine Estates group, owned by Claudio Tipa, gives us a juicy bottle, to accompany preparations of grilled fish and shellfish, even raw.
