DESCRIPTION OF THE BAROLO "COLONELELLO" ALDO CONTERNO
The Barolo Bussia "Colonelello" by Aldo Conterno is a wine with a rigorous, elegant style, just like the great winery that produces it, one of the milestones of the Langhe.
The cru that gives its name to this incredible wine is the Colonello vineyard located in Bussia, a town near Monforte d'Alba. A hill with a beautiful south-west exposure, with clay and limestone soils rich in calcium carbonate and iron. In this microcosm created over the years, the Nebbiolo vine, the noble Barolo grape, expresses spicier accents combined with more classic elements.
The manual harvest selects the best bunches which will be taken to the splendid property cellar, almost as if to testify to a sacrifice for the splendid gift received from the land. Here the must will rest on the skins for 30 days until the alcoholic fermentation is completely carried out and it is drawn off. The Barolo Bussia "Colonelello" undergoes several rackings and is then placed to refine in large Slavonian oak barrels for 28 months.
