The first label produced in 1998, it takes its name from a wild plant that abounds within the estate, the cornus. It is a wine that strongly represents the vision of its creator, between valorization of the territory and innovation achieved by a tradition capable of evolving. The base is a historic variety of Sangiovese coming from clones of the oldest vineyard on the estate, the Vigna dell'Impero, commissioned in 1935 by Amedeo di Savoia, Duke of Aosta. From this historic variety, grafted onto vineyards located in stony soils rich in marl, the best selection of Sangiovese is made which makes up over 90% of Crognolo. To this is added a small quantity of Merlot which gives softness, immediacy and color to the wine.
